Module one-- what is happening related to IT in my clinical area?

I am doing my clinicals at a residential treatment center for teen girls. The treatment center recently began a new information system that will reduce the paperwork, improve confidentiality and streamline documentation. The program they have implemented is called Bestnotes. This system allows all treatment plans, reviews, and therapy notes to be put on this secure site. The program even allows a portion to be accessed by parents of the teens to look at notes from therapists and see how their daughter is doing in school and if she has any upcoming appointments. This is a great program, no longer is there loose papers to be stored, or replication to fulfill all the documentation requirements. It is all there and the applicable information is automatically updated on reviews so updating treatment plans is easier and much more time efficient. I think this improvement to documentation is because of advances in IT.
