The question is how do I anticipate that this assignment will help me in my graduate coursework? My answer to this is wow I wish I had learned this years ago! Knowing how to properly search databases while doing my BSN would have made my life so much easier and less stressful. As I am looking at my graduate time coming closer to its end and my synthesis project drawing nearer, I can begin to look at the enormous job of gathering literature with less frightful anticipation. This module has peaked my interest and I realize how much there is to learn about properly searching the literature. I have used it in the past but not to its full potential. I think with more practice searching for literature in preparation for my synthesis by the time it arrives this winter I will be ready to conquer!

What is one way you could become involved in designing, selecting, evaluating, or implementing an information system in your workplace.

How can I become involved in designing, selection, evaluating or implementing an information system in my workplace? The first thing that comes to mind is to remain open-minded and to be teachable. I mentioned before that we are implementing an information system called BestNotes at the residential treatment center where I work. There is a lot to learn and it is confusing. There are many changes in the way we do things compared to how they were done in the past. By keeping an open mind and remaining teachable I can be supportive of my workplace. By being patient I can make it easier for the implementation of this new program. People typically don’t like change and often the hardest part of change is getting by-in from staff to try and implement the new changes. This has been true of this change.  Some staff wants things to stay the same and not change even when the change will make things easier and more time saving in the future. I think they are scared of change and are comfortable doing things the way they have always been done. If I am an example of being teachable I may have an effect on others to try and accept this new program.
